Kings and rulers tried to weaponize Diamond Magic for a short while, which should come as no surprise. This was back before anybody knew about Diamond Madness.

A taboo formed around the world against the development of Diamond Magic. The effect it had on people was extreme. It turns friends and family into bitter enemies. You can imagine the wrought and destruction of a ruler with Diamond Madness. The taboo existed for good reasons.
